Panthers send players home after 6 more positive COVID tests

Washington, Dec. 27 (BNA): The Carolina Panthers sent all of their players home from Bank of America Stadium after six other players tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

This brings the total number of Carolina players on the COVID-19 reserve roster to 13, the AP reports.

Defensive end Brian Burns, linebacker Chuck Thompson, defensive end Marquis Hines, defensive tackle Phil Hoskins, center Matt Paradis and defensive tackle, Devon Nixon, both tested positive on Monday. Paradis and Nixon were in reserve already injured.

Panthers coach Matt Roll said the decision to send the players home was made “to stem the ebb and flow” and get things under control. The team will be holding their meetings roughly until then, and Rhule is hoping the players will be back in the building for training on Wednesday.

The Panthers lost 32-6 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and were eliminated in the playoff. They visit New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
