Youth Minister, US Ambassador honor Documentary Competition winners

Manama, Jan. 18 (BNA): Minister of Youth Affairs Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi attended the closing ceremony of the documentary film competition, in the presence of the US Ambassador to Bahrain, Stephen Bondy.

The minister stressed that organizing the competition in cooperation with the US embassy reflects the keenness of both sides to support Bahraini youth and advance their skills and ideas in creative filmmaking, capabilities and high knowledge of the elements of documentaries, as well as great passion. To document many success stories in a modern and inspiring way.


“We fully believe in our youth talents and will continue to empower them locally, regionally and internationally,” she said.

“We have seen a number of wonderful documentaries that carry prominent messages in the filmmaking process, and we are very impressed by the interconnected efforts of Bahraini youth and their teamwork towards producing such distinguished films.”

Minister Tawfiqi expressed her appreciation for the cooperation between the ministry and the embassy in organizing the competition.

The US ambassador expressed his happiness with this partnership in launching such programs.


The closing ceremony began with the screening of the three films (Golden Girls), (The Sea) and (With Passion). Then the minister and the ambassador distributed prizes to the winners, which were as follows: Best Film Producer (Banat Al Dahab), Best Narrative Film (Banat Al Dahab), Best Film Editing (With Passion), Best Film. Soundtrack (Bahr), Best Cinematography Award (Bhashaghaf), and Best Film Direction (Bhashaghaf).
