Shura Council delegation participates in WPL Summit

Brussels, June 8 (BNA): The Shura Council delegation participating in the Women’s Political Leaders Summit 2023 in Brussels affirmed Bahrain’s exemplary steps in the field of women’s empowerment. They referred to the system of advanced national legislation that helped to involve women in the legislative, executive, judicial and civil society institutions. They expressed their pride in the tremendous support provided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Bahraini women.

This came in a speech delivered by Dr. Ibtisam Al-Dalal, member of the Shura Council, ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Summit of Women Political Leaders. The summit is organized by the European Parliament and the Belgian Federal Parliament. The Shura Council delegation was headed by Dr. Fatima Al-Kooheji, Chairperson of the Women and Child Affairs Committee, and Dr. Ibtisam Al-Dallal and Lina Habib Kassem.

Al-Dallal stressed the importance of Bahraini women’s contribution to all areas of development, pointing to the Kingdom’s keenness to achieve sustainable development goals, including the fifth goal related to gender equality. She emphasized the pioneering role of the Supreme Council for Women, headed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King.
