Electricity and Minister chairs Water Resources Council meeting

Manama, June 7 (BNA): Within the framework of implementing the National Water Strategy and in line with the unified strategy of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, chaired the meeting of the Standing Committee. Advisory Committee of the Water Resources Council.

The meeting provided an overview of the technical committee of the council, in addition to discussing the Green Climate Fund.

The minister stressed the importance of coordinating with the concerned authorities to implement the Council’s decisions, plans and programmes.

The committee discussed ways to reduce seawater creep into the aquifers in Muharraq and increase its quality and level with high-quality treated wastewater that is injected into the groundwater.

The committee addressed the groundwater well comprehensive inventory initiative, which discussed methods for conducting groundwater well surveys, updating data, and ensuring that wells do not violate regulations through field inventories.

They discussed ways to develop a national water demand management program to maximize the utilization of water, by implementing a variety of initiatives and actions aimed at achieving sustainable development goals.
