Wolves beat Leicester 2-1 in push for Euro qualification

London, Feb 20 (BUS): Daniel Bodens helped Wolverhampton qualify for Europe with a 2-1 win over Leicester in the Premier League on Sunday.

Bowdens received the ball 20 yards away and, with Leicester’s defense waning, fired into the bottom corner in the 66th minute, the Associated Press reported.

It was Leicester’s failure to clear a cross from Bodens that led to the opening game in the ninth minute when Raul Jimenez returned the ball to Ruben Neves, who fired from the hands of goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Boudens’ victory, after Ademola Lookman challenged a 41st-minute equalizer, ensured Wolves remained six points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with two games in hand.

It’s been two years since Wolves reached the Europa League quarter-finals in their first European campaign in nearly four decades.

With six wins from eight matches, Wolves are now contenders for Champions League qualification in an exciting battle for the top four alongside United, West Ham, Arsenal and Tottenham.

Leicester have been in that race the last two seasons but have struggled this year. Having gone their fifth league match without a win, Leicester are 11th in the standings.
