WISTA elects first Bahraini as a board member



Manama, September 29 (BNA) The World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WISTA) has elected Bahraini Ahmed Al-Hujairi as a member of its board of directors for the next three years.

The elections that took place in Kuala Lumpur witnessed the participation of 15 candidates of different nationalities.

Al-Hujairi will contribute to shaping general trends for the development of the ICT industry globally through reports, recommendations and events convened by WITSA, which are highly regarded by technical decision makers in the public and business sectors as well as by international organizations.

“I will work hard to achieve the goals of the Alliance through this membership, including facilitating global trade and investment in technical products and services through the network of international alliances and enhancing cooperation through the exchange of knowledge, experience and information. This is in addition to retaining the Global Innovation Awards in recognition of the technical expertise it deserves in all around the world “.

“Being a member of the WISTA Board of Directors will enable me to create a new and fruitful channel of communication between Bahrain’s technology industry and the leaders of this illustrious alliance.”

“Participation in WITSA is critical to highlight the level of development of the ICT industry in Bahrain and enhance its contribution to the GDP as a true partner in the Bahrain government’s goal of diversifying sources of income within the framework of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and economic recovery plan,” he said.

Al-Hujairi confirmed that this membership will also invest in localizing international best practices related to the ICT industry in Bahrain and inviting the coalition to hold technical events in Bahrain or participate in existing ones.
