WHO renews designation of Nursing Department as Collaborating Centre for Nursing Development

Manama, September 20 / BNA / The World Health Organization (WHO) has renewed its appointment of the Nursing Department at the College of Health and Sports Sciences at the University of Bahrain as a “WHO Collaborating Center for Nursing Development” in the Middle East for a period of four years, between September 2022 and September 2026. Also, R. Lina Mohammed Al-Khanji, director of the center.

On this occasion, the President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher Shaheen Al-Madhaki, praised the role played by the Nursing Department to develop nursing, noting that renewing its classification as a regional center collaborating with the World Health Organization is a new achievement for Bahrain and the University of Bahrain. It proves the continuous confidence of the World Health Organization in its excellence in the fields of education, training and academic research at the local, Gulf and regional levels.

She added that the Nursing Department is the first and only center collaborating with the World Health Organization in the Arab Gulf region since 1990, highlighting the critical role it has played for more than 45 years in developing the nursing and midwifery profession, noting its continued success. In preparing qualified nursing cadres, providing the Kingdom with specialized manpower, raising the quality of education in the nursing profession and improving its outcomes.
