WHO director-general praises Bahrain’s health strides

Geneva, October 5 (BNA) The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, praised today the health sector in Bahrain.


He praised the Kingdom’s success in containing the spread of the (Covid-19) epidemic thanks to early preparations and high vaccination coverage, while continuing to provide basic health services with qualified national cadres.


He expressed his appreciation for the efforts that reflect Bahrain’s interest and high efficiency in the health aspect in line with sustainable development goals and continuous health coverage.


Dr. Ghebreyesus made this statement during his meeting with the Minister of Health, Dr. Jalila bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, who is heading the Bahrain delegation to the WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) meetings.


Dr. Hassan indicated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to meet the programs of the World Health Organization and its agreement to achieve development goals and support the health system.


The two sides discussed the efforts of the World Health Organization to confront and respond to epidemics and infectious diseases by strengthening proactive and preventive plans and epidemiological surveillance, in addition to health financing systems and investment in financial and human resources, as well as health insurance and training programs.
