WCO approves Bahrain proposal for customs data exchange platform

Manama, December 19 (BNA) President of Customs and Chairman of the World Customs Organization Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa presided over the three-day meeting of the 85th session of the General Policies Committee of the World Customs Organization.

The committee agreed to conduct a feasibility study for a proposal submitted by Sheikh Ahmed to form an international platform for exchanging customs data and information within the framework of the World Customs Organization.

The Head of Customs stressed the importance of the meeting, expressing his thanks to the General Secretariat for the efforts it made to prepare for the meeting.

He emphasized the critical role of global customs authorities in combating the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the front lines.
