Virginia, Nov. 30 (U.S.): A Walmart employee in Chesapeake, Va., where a shooting supervisor shot six people last week, filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the company, claiming that she and others warned management about the shooter’s behavior and nothing was done. .
Donya Priollo, who is suing Walmart for $50 million in a Virginia state court, said she worked all night with Andre Bing, who injured at least six others in a Chesapeake store on Nov. 22 before taking his own life, according to Chesapeake police.
A Walmart spokesperson said the company is reviewing the complaint and will respond in court, Reuters reports.
Priollo says Peng, who led the overnight warehousing team, was known as a “mean and cruel” supervisor and was repeatedly punished by the company for his behavior. Peng had made comments about retaliation if he was fired, saying “people will remember my name,” according to the lawsuit.
Before the shooting, Priollo said Bing asked her if she liked firearms, and asked co-workers if they had their active shooter training. Wal-Mart continued to employ Bing, despite complaints from Prioleau and others, and lawsuit claims.
Priollo says she was in the break room when the shooting started and where two staff members were killed, and that she was injured when she fell while running from the room. It also seeks damages for psychological harm and compensation for medical bills and lost wages.
