Verstappen’s home Dutch GP extends F1 contract through 2025

London, Dec 8 (BNA): Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen will race at home until at least 2025 after the Dutch Grand Prix agreed a two-year contract extension.

The Dutch Grand Prix returned to the schedule in 2021 at the coastal circuit of Zandvoort for the first time since 1985 and drew large crowds to cheer on Red Bull driver Verstappen, who won both races.

“The Dutch Grand Prix has quickly established itself on the calendar as a crowd favourite, bringing incredible energy and a fantastic fan experience,” Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said in a statement on Thursday.

“Their sold-out events in the past two years have raised the bar in terms of organisation, entertainment and sustainability, and we are delighted to expand our relationship with them.”

The 2023 race is scheduled for August 27, reports the Associated Press.

He will be the second Dutch driver on the F1 grid next season after Nyck de Vries signed for AlphaTauri in 2023.

De Vries raced the Italian Grand Prix for Williams this year, finishing ninth on reserve after regular driver Alex Albon was ruled out with appendicitis.
