US National Security Advisor welcomes agreement of Bahrain and Qatar to restore their diplomatic ties

Washington, April 13 (BNA): US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan welcomed the decision of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Qatar to restore diplomatic relations between them during the second meeting of the Bahraini-Qatari Follow-up Committee. Which was held at the headquarters of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Riyadh.

We welcome the restoration of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and Qatar, two close partners of the United States and major non-NATO allies. Mr. Sullivan said in a statement that the United States has been working since the beginning of the Biden administration to encourage regional integration, de-escalation, and rapprochement among US partners.

A fully unified Gulf Cooperation Council, of which Bahrain and Qatar are key members, is also an important step towards creating a more stable and prosperous Middle East, including through more integrated trade, economic and defense arrangements. The United States looks forward to working with all of our partners as we develop this shared vision for a more integrated, stable, and prosperous region that ultimately serves the interests of the United States and the American people,” added the US National Security Adviser.
