US delegation briefed on Bahrain’s experience in preserving work parties’ rights

Manama, Feb. 23 (BNA): The Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) received a delegation from the US Congress as part of its visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, in the presence of LMRA officials and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Expatriate Protection Center of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority (EPC).

Officials of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority reviewed the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in developing a stable and balanced work environment that preserves the rights of work teams, and efforts to educate and guide workers.

During the visit, LMRA officials highlighted the authority’s key projects and initiatives, including the recently launched Labor Registration Program, which aims to register workers in partnership with the private sector, as part of the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to develop a sustainable and efficient labor market.

The delegation was briefed on the main objectives and roles of the Expatriate Protection Centre, the first comprehensive and specialized facility of its kind in the Middle East region. EPC provides advice, legal services, and shelter to victims and potential victims of human trafficking crimes or any form of exploitation, and focuses on preserving labor rights in accordance with the best international standards and practices.
