Uruguay striker Luis Suárez joining Brazil’s Gremio

Brasília, December 31 (BNA): The Brazilian club announced today, Saturday, that Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez will join Gremio.


The 35-year-old Suarez was a free agent after leaving his boyhood club Nacional ahead of the World Cup. Brazilian media reports that Suarez has signed a two-year deal with Gremio.


“Luis Suarez, who is one of the greatest in Uruguay’s history, is coming to continue his victorious path,” Gremio said on social media. “Top Scorer, Multiple Champion, and Fighter. Hello, Loisito.”


Suarez, who has played for Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, confirmed the deal, according to the Associated Press.


Gremio returned to the Brazilian top flight after one year in the second division.
