United’s Rashford returns to full training after shoulder operation

Manchester, October 2 (BNA) Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has returned to full training after a recent shoulder surgery and is supposed to be ready after the international break.

Rashford said in August that he underwent surgery for a shoulder injury, which he sustained during the latter part of the 2020-21 season, Reuters reported.

An injury cut short his playing time, as the 23-year-old played only a limited role for England during his run in the Euro 2020 final in July, where he lost to champions Italy.

“Marcus trained fully for the first time today (Friday) with contact,” Solskjaer said ahead of the return leg against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.

“There were a few tackles he had and he looked fine, and it was nice to see. Marcus is fit, he’s worked hard, but hasn’t had any contact (yet).

“If his shoulder can take the call now, he should be ready after the internationals.”

The international break begins on Monday, with United returning to play in the league on October 16 against Leicester City.

Defender Luke Shaw, who picked up a shoulder injury in last week’s 1-0 loss to Aston Villa, will undergo a fitness test late in Saturday’s game. He also missed Wednesday’s 2-1 Champions League win over Villarreal due to illness.

“Luke is feeling better about himself,” Solskjaer said. “He’s sick but he still has a shoulder injury.” “We have to make a decision about it.”

United is fourth in the league standings with 13 points, one point behind leaders Liverpool.
