Hisham Al Hashemi, Director of Government Systems Support and Maintenance at the Information and eGovernment Authority, said that the e-key is offered at two levels via ekey.bh, standard and advanced.

The standard electronic key is available to all citizens and residents in the Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries with their ID card. Users can register for the standard e-key by visiting the national portal bahrain.bh or ekey.bh.

Registration in the Advanced Electronic Key requires a one-time visit to the ID card center for fingerprint scanning.

Al Hashemi said that the Information and eGovernment Authority, in partnership with various public and private entities, provides a set of electronic services associated with both the standard and advanced electronic key.

They include services related to the General Traffic Department (GDT) provided via the National Portal or eTraffic App, Housing Bank, Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), ID Cards, Courts and Cases, and Social Insurance Authority (SIO). ) as well as services for people with special needs and more. Users can access the full list of each service by visiting ekey.bh and selecting “ekey services”.

Al-Hashemi added that the Information and eGovernment Authority improved the electronic key system in 2021 based on user suggestions, allowing users to add their email to receive notifications when their data is updated, upgrade to advanced accounts, change secret codes, and perform other transactions through the national portal. and other e-government channels.

This gives users multiple options on how to receive notifications based on their preferences, which can now be via their smart devices or emails making their lives easier.

He urged all users to update their personal files via ekey.bh and contact the Government Services Call Center at 80008001 for any inquiries about the e-key, or send their comments through the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul).
