Union Berlin beats Stuttgart 3-0, stays 3rd in Bundesliga

Berlin, April 1 (BNA): Stuttgart midfielder Genki Haraguchi scored an own goal on his first return to Union Berlin as his former side secured a 3-0 win and secured third place in the Bundesliga on Saturday.


Chiraldo Becker scored in the 51st minute to put Union out of the goal mark, then Kevin Behrens fired in from close range in the 67th minute, one minute before Haraguchi saved Behrens’ cross into his own net, according to the Associated Press.


Also on Saturday, Jeremy Frimpong, Florian Wertz and Sardar Azmoun scored in the second half for Bayer Leverkusen to win 3-0 at Schalke 04. Schalke 04 remained above last place, a point ahead of Stuttgart.


Jesek Njankam scored in the 77th minute for Hertha BSC to salvage a 1-1 draw in Freiburg for a morale-boosting point in their battle against relegation. Hertha moved a point over Schalke.


Wolfsburg captain Maximilian Arnold scored an own goal and missed a penalty but his team fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home with Augsburg. Germany midfielder Felix Nemecha scored the equalizer in stoppage time.
