Fujairah, October 31 (BNA): The United Arab Emirates qualified for the U-23 Asian Cup finals in Uzbekistan 2022, with a 2-0 victory over Oman to take the top spot in Group E on Saturday.
The victory raised the UAE tally to six points and confirmed its place in Uzbekistan 2022 after India and Kyrgyzstan tied 0-0 in the final match of the group, leaving both teams four points. The Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that India later took second place after winning the penalty shootout, as the tiebreak could not separate the two sides.
Three points for the Kyrgyz Republic would have made the Central Asian team top the group, after beating the Emirates 2-1 in the first round.
