Tourism minister meets WTO Secretary General

Riyadh, Dec. 1 (BNA): Bahraini Minister of Tourism, Fatima bint Jaafar Al-Sairafi, met with the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization, Zurab Pololikashvili, on the sidelines of her participation in the World Summit of the Travel and Tourism Council.

The minister highlighted the potential of the tourism sector, which includes infrastructure, major tourism projects, and the objectives of the tourism strategy 2022-2026.

Al-Serafi discussed cooperation in providing practical training for some specializations in the tourism sector at the WTO regional office.

The role of the travel and tourism sector in the recovery of the global economy was discussed, in light of expectations that it will grow at twice the speed of the global economy over the next ten years, and the need to create a more inclusive and sustainable environment. basis for its expansion.

She highlighted the increasing role of the positive returns of this sector on communities, individuals, and small and medium enterprises in particular.

The minister expressed the Kingdom’s keenness to cooperate with various international organizations concerned with tourism.

She also expressed the ministry’s interest in participating in various regional and international events related to the development of the tourism sector.
