The National Medical Taskforce calls on eligible individuals to receive a COVID-19 booster shot

Manama, June 16 (US): The National Coronavirus (COVID-19) Medical Task Force has reiterated its call for all eligible individuals to receive an additional booster dose every nine months to enhance their immunity against COVID-19 variants and protect public health.

The task force indicated that vaccinated individuals 12 years of age and older are eligible to receive an additional booster dose every nine months. Individuals with a previous infection are eligible for a booster dose as long as nine months have elapsed since the last dose, and at least six months have elapsed since the date of infection. The following vaccines are available to those eligible:

• Pfizer Biotech Company

• Valneva (18 years and over)

• Sinopharm (if Sinopharm is received as a base series)

The working group stressed the importance of voluntarily wearing a mask indoors and outdoors, according to the precautionary guidelines.

The task force concluded by stressing the importance of wearing masks when visiting health facilities and interacting with vulnerable and at-risk individuals.
