Arab Reading Challenge – Bahrain winners honoured

Manama, June 16 (BNA) The student of Isa Town Secondary School for Boys, Muhammad Jamil Ali Muhammad, was crowned today, with winning the sixth edition of the Arab Reading Challenge – Bahrain Branch.


He was honored during a ceremony held under the patronage of the Director General of Schools Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Ahmed, and in the presence of Sarah Al Nuaimi, Director of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives,


More than 142 thousand students representing 239 public schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain participated in the battle, and are competing for first place in the competition, which is considered the great Arab reading challenge in the world.


Al-Ahed Al-Zahir Secondary School for Girls was crowned with the high achievers category, while Saleh Abdullah Al-Balushi from the First Educational District won the Best Supervisor award, out of 460 contestants who sharpened the students’ reading skills to participate in the challenge. .


The jury selected the top ten winners in Bahrain from among the participants who reached the final stage.


The winning list includes Isa Town Secondary School for Boys student Muhammad Jamil Ali Muhammad, followed respectively by Hanan Hussein Abdul Mohsen (Al Ahd Secondary School for Girls), Yomna Salah Janahi (Al Eman School for Girls), and Muhammad Saleh Abdul Karim (Al Riffa Al Sharqi Secondary School for Boys, Faisal Marwan (Kano International School), Khawla Ahmed Mansour (Sanabis Intermediate School for Girls), Iyad Osama Saeed Qabbashi (Muharraq Secondary School for Boys), Asmaa Hassan Thani (Ain Jalout Primary School for Girls) Jana Sadiq Jaafar Al-Mahdi (Draz Intermediate School for Girls, Zainab Adel Al-Shuwaikh (Zainab Intermediate School for Girls).


More than 22.27 million students from 44 countries participated in the 2022 Arab Reading Challenge, becoming the largest in the history of the competition, which was launched for the first time in 2015.


The Director General of Schools Affairs congratulated the winners and participants in the Arab Reading Challenge – Bahrain Branch, praising the excellent organization of the competition.


He stressed the importance of reading, which is the basis for knowledge economics.


He pointed out that the qualitative participation of Bahraini students in reading competitions and local, regional and international knowledge enjoys the continuous support of the leadership of His Majesty the King.
