Manama, October 26 (BNA) The Labor Fund (Tamkeen) announced its support for the upcoming King Hamad American Mission Hospital in A’ali.
This announcement comes within the framework of Tamkeen’s strategy to support all sectors, while stimulating sectors with high potential, which includes specialized health care, in line with national priorities and the economic recovery plan.
With the support of Tamkeen, the hospital will employ around 200 Bahrainis in specialized healthcare fields, enhancing skills-upgrading opportunities for Bahrainis, and creating high-value, sustainable jobs. The hospital will continue to offer unique collaboration opportunities with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), which will help create an innovative healthcare centre. King Hamad AMH is also collaborating with Mayo Clinic in the United States, one of the best hospitals in the world, to create a Mayo Network Center in the region that will promote world-class healthcare and health tourism in Bahrain. Quality, patient experience, research and training will be at the heart of this collaboration.
The Kingdom of Bahrain has the oldest hospitals in the region where the first hospital, the American Mission Hospital, was established in 1903, and the American Mission Hospital King Hamad, the fifth location of the hospital in Bahrain, will be the first environmentally friendly hospital powered by solar energy. A hospital in Bahrain with a world-class IT infrastructure that will protect the building in the future, making it a smart hospital. In addition, it will include a Center for Medical Innovation through which local surgeons will be trained by a highly skilled medical team in the use of specific techniques in healthcare. Other facilities include one-room intensive care units, a fertility center, a 270-seat auditorium for training and lectures, and an assessment and treatment center for children with special needs.
The private healthcare sector employs 2% of the total workforce and contributes 1.5% to the Kingdom’s GDP. The expansion of healthcare facilities and new private healthcare clinics comes in response to the growing population and the growing need for specialized healthcare. In addition, the future of healthcare delivery is fundamentally evolving to be patient-centric, virtual, data- and analytics-driven, and enabled by new medical technologies.

It is worth noting that Tamkeen has supported the medical industry through various initiatives, as it previously announced its support for the largest veterinary hospital in Bahrain “Barry Veterinary Hospital”, which enabled local talents to gain knowledge through training and employment opportunities specifically in the veterinary field through its various support programs . Tamkeen’s programs were developed after a series of consultative sessions with representatives from various sectors thus meeting market demands in line with the direction of national priorities and the economic recovery plan.
