Tamkeen supports Bahraini engineering students’ training with Prodrive International in the UK as part of its Global Ready Talent Program

Manama, August 15 (BNA) The Labor Fund (Tamkeen), in cooperation with Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company “Mumtalakat”, announced the training of a group of Bahraini mechanical engineering students with Prodrive International, one of Mumtalakat’s companies and a pioneer in this field. From the motorsports industry, also known for managing the World Rally Raid Championship team, Bahrain Raid Xtreme (BRX).

The students were selected after a series of evaluations conducted by Mumtalakat and Prodrive International by a number of local universities such as the University of Bahrain, Bahrain Polytechnic and the American University of Bahrain.

This training initiative comes as part of the Global Ready Talent Empowerment Program, which aims to provide Bahrainis with high-quality training opportunities to enhance their skills and accelerate their career development, by establishing partnerships with several multinational companies.

The Global Ready Talent Program supports one of Tamkeen’s main missions in making Bahrainis the first choice for employment in the labor market, by bridging skills gaps and providing individuals with the required skills and exposure to increase their competitiveness locally and internationally.

During the four-week training period that took place at Prodrive’s UK headquarters, students participated in the design and production of a rally car chassis that will be used in international rally raids in Spain, Morocco and Saudi Arabia. The Arabian Peninsula.

The students also gained first-hand insight into the planning and preparation process for Team BRX’s participation in upcoming rally raids by attending meetings and group discussions.

To further enrich their experience, students have also visited a number of the world’s leading organizations specializing in motorsports and motorsports.

His Excellency Khalid Al-Rumaihi, CEO of Mumtalakat and Chairman of Prodrive International, stressed the importance of this collaborative initiative in supporting the development of Bahraini talents in the field of motorsports engineering.

He said, “This cooperation with Tamkeen is based on our commitment to continue supporting the Kingdom’s economy through our portfolio of companies that support more than 12,000 highly skilled jobs in the Kingdom.”

“The significance of this initiative with Prodrive International lies in the unique opportunity offered to students and the international exposure that they will gain from some of the world’s most famous experts in motorsport engineering, which will contribute to the creation of knowledge and expertise in this field locally,” he added.

Commenting on the initiative, Maha Moves, Acting CEO of the Labor Fund (Tamkeen), highlighted the value of high-quality training initiatives focused on high-potential sectors such as the automotive industry and motorsports that are gaining in popularity in the Middle East.

“Giving Bahraini talent the opportunity to be trained by international experts enables them to enhance their skills and gain international expertise, thus preparing them for high-quality job opportunities and helping them become more competitive locally and internationally, which is directly in line with Tamkeen’s goal of achieving success,” she said. Farid Abu Saqer, a student at Bahrain Polytechnic, highlighted the benefits he gained from training with Prodrive International.

“I spared no effort in making sure I got this coaching opportunity and I am grateful to everyone who contributed to this initiative, especially Prodrive International. Working with the Bahrain Raid Xtreme team has been an amazing and unique opportunity where I learned all about motorsport engineering in the most advanced way and professional.

“During the internship I was very committed and made sure to learn as much as possible; this enabled me to contribute to the design of the hand brake for the Hunter Hypercar while receiving direct input and feedback from the engineers.”

Prodrive International is a proprietary company established in 2019 that specializes in the design and manufacture of rally cars and motorsport engineering as well as providing technology solutions to building rally cars.

This initiative comes in line with 16 programs launched by Tamkeen earlier in the year as part of the comprehensive transformation initiative that aims to create a greater economic impact, thus advancing the achievement of national economic priorities in line with the economic recovery plan.
