Swiss voters to decide whether to overturn use of Covid certificate

Geneva, November 28 (BNA): Swiss voters will decide in a referendum on Sunday whether to revoke the Covid certificate, which is currently required to prove vaccination, recovery or negativity.

Opponents of martyrdom were forced to vote with a petition. German news agency dpa reported that they consider it inappropriate to require a certificate for admission to events or restaurants, saying that it would divide the country and indirectly force people to get vaccinated.

But in recent polls, about 60 percent of respondents opposed revocation of certification.

Also the topic of Sunday’s referendum is the nursing initiative, which is likely to be accepted. It requires higher wages, better working conditions and more money for education and training.

Trained nursing staff earn an average of more than 4,000 euros per month before taxes. However, the cost of living in Switzerland is high, and there is no employer support for health insurance fees.

The government wants to invest more in training, but is leaving working conditions to individual employers.

The third vote is about how to appoint federal judges. To date, they have been elected by the House of Representatives on the basis of the distribution of votes between the parties.

Supporters of the Justice Initiative argue that this is detrimental to nonpartisan jurists. They propose a committee of experts to select several specialized jurists, among whom the decision is made by lot.

In the polls, half were in favor, and many are still hesitant.
