Swiatek braced for tougher path to third Paris title

Paris, May 25 (BNA): Poland’s Iga Swiatek gave up any notion that she specialized in clay courts in the first place when she won her third Gland Slam title by winning the US Open last year.

But there is no arguing that red dirt is the perfect companion to her multifaceted game and even less arguable that Roland Garros remains her favorite course.

As she approaches her 22nd birthday during the first week of the French Open, Swiatek goes in as favorite for a third title in four years in Paris, although she may face stronger opposition than her unstoppable campaign last year.

Swiatek’s affinity for clay is undeniable. In 2022, she dropped just one set on her way to claiming the title at Roland Garros, reaffirming her status as a force to be reckoned with.
