Sustainable Development Minister meets with UN officials

New York, March 25 (BNA): Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor bint Ali Al-Khalif, met with a number of United Nations officials on the sidelines of her participation in the 2023 United Nations Water Conference on the mid-term comprehensive review of the implementation of the goals. of the International Decade for Action, “Water for Sustainable Development” (2018-2028), which is currently being held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.


The minister met with the Under-Secretary-General of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Lee Jun-hwa. She renewed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to achieving the sustainable development goals, and highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts in monitoring indicators to assess and review progress towards achieving the sustainable development goals.


The Minister also met with the President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the 2023 session, La Chizarra Stoeva. The two sides discussed the Kingdom’s progress and preparations to submit the second voluntary national review of the implementation of the global sustainable development goals, which is scheduled to be presented in July 2023, during the High-level Political Forum for Sustainable Development.


The minister also met with the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Dr. Rola Dashti, and highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts towards implementing the sustainable development goals, especially the sixth goal of the sustainable development goals, “clean water and sanitation.” The minister discussed the various policies and programs implemented by the Kingdom to ensure sustainable management of safe water resources for all.
