Specialised Bahraini medical team arrives in quake-affected areas in Syria

Damascus, March 18 (BNA): A Bahraini medical team arrived here yesterday to help treat the wounded as a result of the devastating earthquake that struck the country recently.

This step comes in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to support the brotherly Syrian people in their humanitarian ordeal caused by the earthquake, through the Royal Humanitarian Foundation led by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for humanitarian work and youth affairs and head of the National Committee for Supporting Earthquake Victims in Syria and Turkey.

On this occasion, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed Al-Amin, Secretary General of the Foundation, and CEO of the National Committee for Supporting Earthquake Victims in Syria and Turkey, praised His Majesty’s directives to deliver relief aid to those affected by the earthquake. which hit parts of Syria, praising the support that the health care facility enjoys from the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and praising the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Nasser in leading the work of the institution.

Dr. Al-Sayed confirmed that, based on the agreement signed with the Syrian Medical Association, the two sides coordinated the dispatch of a team of volunteer Bahraini doctors and members of the Bahrain Medical Association, led by Dr. Amer Al-Derazi, to contribute. To treat people injured in the earthquake.

Dr. Al-Sayed indicated that based on the memorandum of understanding, the Bahraini medical team specializing in treating fractures, injuries and general surgery arrived in Damascus, and then headed to the affected Aleppo governorate, where it will perform many surgeries for the injured victims. from the earthquake.

The Bahraini medical team will also visit a number of hospitals and medical centers in Syria to identify the most important medical needs and work to provide some of the necessary medical supplies that Syria needs at the present time, which will contribute to raising the hospital’s efficiency. He added that medical services were provided to those affected by the earthquake through donations from government and private hospitals in Bahrain.

The head of the Syrian Medical Association, Ghassan Fendi, expressed his deepest thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom’s leadership, government and people for their quick response in providing treatment and dispatching medical personnel, stressing the Syrian people’s pride in the established friendship between the two countries. And Bahrain’s honorable position during the painful crisis that the Syrians are going through as a result of the earthquake.

Dr. Amer Al-Derazi expressed his appreciation to the Health Care Corporation under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Nasser for ensuring smooth procedures for sending the Bahraini medical team to Syria.

He said that the medical team will contribute to alleviating the pain of the injured, pointing out that the areas affected by the earthquake will benefit from the Bahraini medical expertise in treating patients and determining the needs of hospitals and health centers.
