Speaker stresses importance of documenting Bahrain’s heritage

Manama, September 29 (BNA) Parliament Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal participated in the symposium that was held by the Department of Historical Documents at the Isa Cultural Center today under the title: Researcher Abdul Rahman Al-Zawawi who caught “Al Zubarah and Bahrain Calendar”.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives affirmed that the royal order to issue the “Bahrain Calendar” in accordance with Islamic, scientific and astronomical law reflects the interest of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in documenting and preserving Bahrain’s ancient heritage, by building on the Kingdom’s unique historical heritage. Its position as a cultural, scientific and knowledge center and its leading role at the regional and international levels.

Zainal praised the success of the cultural symposium and the accompanying exhibition in shedding light on the scientific and civilizational renaissance witnessed by the Khalif State in Zubarah, as it provided information on the life of the prominent researcher Abdul Rahman Al-Zawawi, in addition to the life of the scientist. The most famous scholars of Al Zubarah, in addition to providing copies of the original document of the Al Zubarah Manuscript and Bahrain Calendar, noting that the symposium documents Bahrain’s rich history and praises the nation’s eminent scholars.

The spokeswoman expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation to the Deputy Board of Trustees and President of the Isa Cultural Center, Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, for inviting her to attend the event, stressing the importance of shedding light on the scientific and civilizational renaissance during the last period. Establishing the Caliphate State and highlighting the life of the scholar Al-Zawawi, who developed the “Al Zubarah and Bahrain Calendar” according to a distinguished scientific and legal method that researchers and academics can benefit from.
