Speaker meets with European Parliament of Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman

Manama, January 5 (BNA) Parliament Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal met with David McAllister, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament.

They discussed ways to strengthen and develop relations between Bahrain’s House of Representatives and the European Parliament in various fields.

The President of the Council affirmed the Council’s keenness to cooperate and participate in regional and international parliamentary forums and the importance of holding meetings, exchanging visits, and exchanging parliamentary expertise and experiences.

The meeting discussed various issues and challenges facing countries and societies and finding solutions to them, noting the council’s endeavor to activate parliamentary diplomacy and highlight Bahrain’s democratic image under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

She pointed out that Bahrain raised the values ​​of tolerance and coexistence, and devoted its efforts to adopt civilized humanitarian initiatives, which won the appreciation of the international community, civil society associations and human rights institutions.

Zainal highlighted Bahrain’s possession of a solid legislative structure and a legal base that supports the comprehensive reform approach, which makes good citizenship the basis for developing and modernizing the state of institutions and law.

She emphasized that His Majesty the King’s reform project produced a complete base of human rights and a well-established democratic experience, and its top priority is to ensure and promote public rights and freedoms, and to make the Bahraini experience a model in a culture of tolerance, coexistence, transparency and openness.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors expressed his happiness with the importance of building close parliamentary relations with Bahrain, and praised the democratic, parliamentary, reform and human rights experience in the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty the King.
