Eriksen eyes comeback from cardiac arrest, targets World Cup

Copenhagen Jan 5 (BUS): Christian Eriksen is targeting his return from cardiac arrest to play for Denmark at the World Cup in November.

Eriksen, 29, has not played since collapsing during Denmark’s opening European Championship game against Finland in June, the Associated Press reported.

The playmaker’s contract with Inter Milan was terminated by mutual agreement last month, due to him not being able to play in Italy due to being supplied with a pacemaker and an implantable defibrillator.

“My goal is to play in the World Cup in Qatar,” Eriksen told Danish broadcaster DR1 in an interview broadcast on Tuesday. “That was my mind the whole time.”

Eriksen, who won the Serie A title last season, has resumed some training in recent weeks but is without a club.
