Speaker highlights Bahraini women’s strides

Islamabad, November 19 (BNA) Parliament Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal said that Bahraini women have made great strides that have enabled them to assume local and international leadership positions.

She praised His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, praising the distant royal vision supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

She stressed the pivotal role of the Supreme Council for Women headed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the sanctity of His Majesty the King in setting strategies, leading initiatives and projects, and promoting effective partnership with state institutions in order to achieve their goals. Integrating women’s needs into the government’s action plan.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives highlighted the tangible progress made by Bahrain in promoting equal opportunities, justice and gender balance, emphasizing the successful transition from empowering women to empowering them for their advancement.

She made this statement when she met Manazah Hasan, General Secretary of the Women’s Parliamentary Gathering, a multi-party forum for women parliamentarians from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed the role of the reform project led by His Majesty the King in enhancing the status of women and involving them as an essential partner in national development.

The Secretary-General of the International Women’s Council said that the steps achieved by Bahraini women have become a role model, looking forward to developing cooperation with the Parliament and the Supreme Council for Women.

Zainal and the parliamentary delegation toured the Pakistani Women’s Council and viewed a photo exhibition featuring prominent Pakistani political and parliamentary figures.
