Mogadishu, Jan. 16 (BNA): At least 23 Al-Shabaab militants were killed and others injured after the Somali National Army carried out a well-coordinated operation at the Danoi site near Shalanbod district in Lower Shabelle region.
Somali National Army Chief Oduwa Yusuf Raj said Somali National Army and ATMIS forces thwarted an ambush attack by terrorists in the area and destroyed their intent to inflict casualties on joint forces, according to the Somali National Agency (SUNA).
“Our forces of the Somali National Army killed 23 terrorist militants from Al-Shabaab and wounded others at the Dano site in Lower Shabelle region this morning. They seized a large amount of weapons during the operation,” the army commander said.
He added that operations will continue until the region and across the country are cleansed of terrorists.
In the Hayran region, Al-Shabaab militants carried out a suicide car bomb attack in the Helgan region, killing one soldier and wounding 12 others, including civilians, according to SUNA.
