We are looking for Software Development Engineers to be based in Cairo, Egypt with over 5 years of solid software engineering experience involving complex problem solving, to work on some of the key initiatives planned to support our rapid development and growth of Amazon’s international expansion business. Basic tasks:
• More than 5 years’ experience in software engineering design and operating scalable software systems
• Requirements analysis, failure analysis, API design, distributed consistency
Distributed caching (memcached, Redis or similar technology)
• Metrics, Analysis and Profiling of Programs
• Strong object-oriented design skills with an understanding of common design paradigms
• Experience with Java or other object-oriented languages ​​- preferably on a UNIX or Linux platform including the internal JVM or equivalent lower level implementation
• Experience with distributed (multi-level) systems, algorithms and relational databases
Experience writing unit and system level tests using dependency injection frameworks and object mockery
• Experience in math optimization (linear programming, nonlinear optimization)
• Oral and written communication skills (ability to produce operating manuals and technical and non-technical documents)
• Experience in training junior software development engineers including code review and design review
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline

• Strong, object-oriented design and coding skills (C/C++ and/or Java preferably on UNIX or Linux).
• Ability to effectively formulate and drive solutions to technical and business challenges.
• Dealing well with ambiguous/unspecified problems. The ability to think abstractly.
• Experience working with product vision leadership to deliver long-term value to clients and advertisers.
• Willingness to own all phases of the development process: requirements, design, implementation, testing, and operational support.
• Excellent personal communications with strong oral/written English language skills.
