Smart robot to distribute Zamzam water

Makkah Al-Mukarramah, January 11 (BNA): The Grand Mosque inaugurated a robot to distribute Zamzam water bottles.

The Undersecretary of the Zamzam Irrigation Department for Field Affairs at the Great Mosque, Badr Al-Luqmani, said that the smart robot technology depends on the independent distribution of Zamzam water bottles within health protocols and precautionary measures against Covid-19, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). .

He pointed to the keenness to take advantage of artificial intelligence to serve the Grand Mosque.

The robot needs 20 seconds to load the Zamzam water bottles and distribute 30 bottles in one round and it takes 10 minutes. It works for eight hours.

The robot does not bump into people and does not impede its movement. He has obtained several accreditations including the European CS Certificate.

He added that plans are underway to operate the robot on a large scale and to handle bags and portable cylinders in the Grand Mosque.

This process is part of the “How to Be a Role Model in the Digital World” program that aims to promote digital citizenship, raise awareness and teach the best use of ICTs.

It also aims to study the awareness of community members using digital world applications and their enjoyment of skills and sound ethics via the Internet and technology.
