Smart City Summit to kick off October 10

Manama, October 7 (BNA) The fifth session of the Smart City Summit will open on the tenth of next October at the Gulf Convention Center under the auspices of the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Issam bin Abdullah Khalaf.

The summit will witness the participation of 250 individuals from the public and private sectors, including engineers, consultants and specialists. The Ministry of Interior, the Information and e-Government Authority, Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning will also participate in the event.

The two-day event will see participation from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Nations, the United States of America and the United Nations Development Program. It will highlight key issues such as smart city solutions, future technology, waste management solutions, community partnership for environmental monitoring, and cities as a major hub for implementing the sustainable development goals. It also highlights Bahrain’s initiatives in smart city applications, the future of sustainable energy, and smart police applications for safe cities.

The summit will also highlight the BeAware Bahrain application as one of the Kingdom’s success stories during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Forty keynote speakers from the public, private and non-governmental sectors will deliver lectures at the event, which will include 10 panel discussions during which 20 working papers will be presented.

During the summit, the Smart Cities Awards 2021 will be announced during the opening ceremony, and an accompanying exhibition will be held with the participation of 15 institutions from the public and private sectors.

It should be noted that the Bahrain Smart Cities Summit is fully sponsored by Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah), Bahrain Mobile Telecommunications Company, Diyar Al Muharraq and other government entities and international consultancy firms.
