Annual Heritage Festival to kick off Wednesday at Souq Al Baraha

Manama, April 4 (BNA): Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the annual Heritage Festival, in its twenty-ninth edition, will kick off on April 5 at 9:00 pm and will continue until April 8 in the Souk. Al Baraha in Diyar Al Muharraq.

It is organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) and supported by the Baraha Souq.

This year’s edition, titled “Ramadan Traditions,” sheds light on customs related to the holy month of Ramadan that are an integral part of Bahraini identity. This will pave the way for visitors to learn about the authentic traditions formed by the local community related to the holy month, through a variety of recreational activities.

The 29th Heritage Festival will be open to the public from 09:00 pm to midnight, and will feature a varied program, including musical performances by folklore bands, face painting, traditional games, hazawi (folk tales) and tasting experiences of many Ramadan foods, among others. Many other things.

Through this programme, BACA seeks to highlight the customs of Ramadan, such as gurgaon, family gatherings, Masharati (Ramadan drummer), folk games, Iftar cannon, Ramadan sufra (table or cloth for serving food) and popular food.

The festival aims to emphasize the authenticity of these Ramadan customs and their connection to the identity, culture and heritage of the Kingdom. Bahrainis are keen to uphold these traditions and pass them on from generation to generation, despite the changes that have taken place in the contemporary way of life.
