Shura member: Conference confirms religious freedom, co-existence enjoyed by Bahrain

Manama, May 31 (BNA) The Speaker of the Shura Council Jawad Abdullah Hussein stressed the importance of the Bahrain-EU conference under the title “Expanding the tent: Freedom of religion and belief”, which is being held during the reign of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Favoritism in highlighting the freedom of religion and belief and the peaceful coexistence prevailing in Bahrain.

In a statement on the sidelines of the three-day conference, the Shura member indicated that the Kingdom, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, is proud of diversity and pluralism in its society within the framework of Bahrain’s inclusive identity for all, being a state. A source of strength for the country throughout its history.

He pointed out that the multiplicity of civilizations in the history of Bahrain confirms that openness is a well-established feature in the culture of the Bahraini people, which has made the Kingdom a land of tolerance and coexistence.

He added that the conference confirms the wide religious freedoms prevailing in Bahrain, noting that the Kingdom is a pioneering model of peaceful coexistence between cultures, sects and religions.

He said that the presence of a church, a mosque and a temple in one of Bahrain’s streets confirms the freedom to practice religious beliefs.
