Shura member calls for using science, technology in implementing Arab development projects

Amman, July 19 (BNA) Member of the Shura Council, First Deputy Chairman of the High-Level Parliamentary Group for Science and Technology in the Arab Parliament, Hala Ramzy Fayez, called for the need to raise the status of science and technology to implement development plans. In the Arab countries, and promoting joint Arab action in the legislative field to advance science, technology and innovation in accordance with international standards and indicators.

She was speaking during the inauguration of the permanent office of the High Level Parliamentary Group for Science and Technology in Amman, in the presence of the Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al Asoumi, and the group’s head, Khaled Abu Hassan.

The meeting discussed the group’s work strategy that aims to increase interest in science and technology, as well as support future studies in all fields, as the best way to empower Arab legislators in the fields of science, technology and innovation.

Fayez, who presided over part of the meeting held here yesterday, praised the role played by the Speaker of the Assoumi House of Representatives in supporting the group, given its key role in promoting science, technology and innovation in all Arab countries.

The Speaker of the Arab House of Representatives, Adel Al-Asoumi, said that the opening of the permanent office of the high-level parliamentary group for science and technology is one of the most important initiatives launched by the Arab Parliament, noting that choosing Jordan as a permanent host for the group. The office embodies the great prestige it enjoys at the Arab level, and reflects its leading role in serving joint Arab action.

He also expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global) headed by Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh for its great support to the High-Level Parliamentary Group on Science and Technology.
