Shura Council stresses Bahrain’s commitment to human rights

Manama, Dec. 18 (BNA): The Shura Council affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s firm commitment to international covenants promotes human rights, guarantees the rights of peoples, and defines their duties on the basis of the constitution and national laws.

In a statement, the Shura Council rejected the decision issued by the European Parliament on human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

She added, “The decision, which was based on inaccurate information, lacks objectivity and professionalism,” noting that these distorted facts are being spread by those who seek to defame the Kingdom of Bahrain and harm its interests.

The statement stated that “Bahrain is a state of institutions and the law that adheres to conformity with the treaties and agreements signed and joined by the Kingdom, especially the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.”

She praised the integrity of the Bahraini judicial system, which provides all guarantees for the accused and convicted in various civil and criminal cases.

And she stressed the commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to provide all information and data and present them to the international community during the discussion of the periodic review of human rights.

She expressed her dissatisfaction with the European Parliament’s disregard of the factual information provided by the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relied instead on one-sided opinions to formulate decisions with bad intentions that are divorced from reality.
