Shura Chairman calls for coordinating Arab stances at parliamentary gatherings

Manama, Mar. 10 (BNA): Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam received heads and representatives of parliaments and legislative assemblies of Arab countries who arrived in Bahrain to participate in the work of the 146th session of the Parliament. The Inter-Parliamentary Union and related meetings, which are scheduled to be hosted by the Kingdom on March 11 and 15.

In his speech before the coordination meeting of the Arab group prior to the 146th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, he praised the efforts of Arab parliaments to deepen joint Arab action and enhance the progress of their countries.

He praised the advanced level of coordination and continuous coordination between Arab parliaments and legislative states, indicating that their unified stances towards Arab issues reflect the main role they play in this regard.

He expressed confidence in the Arab Group’s keenness to achieve the goals of the Inter-Parliamentary Union represented in achieving global peace and security and promoting dialogue, coexistence and rapprochement.

Shura Council Speaker Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh headed the Kingdom’s delegation to the Arab Group meeting.

During the meeting, he stressed the need for Arab parliaments and legislative assemblies to adopt unified positions and visions in international parliamentary forums, stressing the importance of cooperation, coordination and continuous consultation between Arab parliamentarians on issues of common concern.

He praised the keenness of Arab parliaments and legislative councils to exchange ideas and coordinate positions, reflecting the deep-rooted approach aimed at unifying Arab parliamentary work, and the well-established brotherly relations between Arab countries.

He stressed that the legislative branch of the Kingdom attaches great importance to activating parliamentary diplomacy and benefiting from it to strengthen brotherly Arab relations and enhance Arab parliamentary cooperation.
