Shaikha Haya bint Rashid: UNCPGA members hail HM King’s invitation to hold meeting in Bahrain

Manama, Mar. 7 (BNA): The President of the 61st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Sheikha Haya bint Rashid Al Khalifa, member of the Council of Presidents of the United Nations General Assembly, stressed the importance of holding the meetings of the Council in the Kingdom of Bahrain at the invitation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

She expressed the appreciation of UNCPGA members for the initiative to hold council meetings periodically around the world, in response to the proposal of the Kingdom of Bahrain, to highlight the important role of the United Nations in promoting human rights and equality. Social justice and joint international action.

In response to a question by Bahrain News Agency (BNA) about His Majesty the King’s meeting with UNCPGA members, Sheikha Haya affirmed that the meeting was positive and reflected His Majesty’s interest in all issues dealt with by the United Nations, including world peace and world peace. Security, promotion of human rights and settlement of conflicts through direct dialogue.

With regard to the main topic of focus related to cyber security, Sheikha Haya emphasized the importance of this issue to the entire world. She added that the heads of the United Nations General Assembly discussed this issue, cybercrime and ways to deal with it. She indicated that the issue of cybersecurity will be discussed further in South Korea at the next meeting before transferring it to the General Assembly as a recommendation and developing a common legal model for dealing with cybercrime.

Regarding the upcoming recommendations of the UNCPGA meeting, Sheikha Haya said that they will include thanking Bahrain for hosting the meeting, promoting global peace and security, and calling for a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian issue and stopping the war. She added that the Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC countries have always supported a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian issue, especially since the war there has an impact on the entire world, especially the poor countries.

Sheikha Haya concluded by stressing the great support provided by His Majesty the King to the meeting, noting the royal firm support for activating the principles of the United Nations Charter, especially with regard to human rights and respect for human dignity. She referred to coexistence, peace and acceptance of the other as distinctive features of Bahraini society and values ​​deeply enshrined in the Kingdom’s constitution and the National Action Charter.
