Shaikha Mai attends WMF meeting in New York

New York, November 4 (BNA) The President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khaliqa, participated in the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the World Memorial Fund in New York, USA.

Sheikha Mai became last June the first Arab figure to be elected to the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation,

The President of BACA expressed his deep thanks to WMF President and CEO Bénédicte de Montlaur for her continued support of the Arab Regional Center for World Heritage (ARC-WH).

He valued her invitation to attend the meeting in New York, and invited all members of the Board of Trustees of the World Wikimedia Foundation to visit Bahrain and taste its tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

The Fund awarded the 2015 Watch Award to Sheikha Mai as the first Arab figure to receive this award. She received the award at Hadrian’s annual gala, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of the WMF.

The World Monuments Fund (WMF) was founded in 1965 as an international non-profit organization dedicated to preserving historic architecture and cultural heritage sites around the world through fieldwork, advocacy, grantmaking, education, and training.
