Schick scores 4 for Leverkusen as goals flow in Bundesliga

Berlin, Dec. 4 (BUS): The start of winter brought a string of goals to the Bundesliga on Saturday, when Patrick Schick scored four to help Bayer Leverkusen boost third place with a 7-1 victory over the defenseless Grether Fürth.

Schick needed just 27 minutes to score four goals, the fastest in the league since Robert Lewandowski scored five goals in nine minutes against Wolfsburg in September 2015.

Fürth extended his lost streak in the desolate German Bundesliga to 12 in a row, while the rising team’s single point is also a record after 14 rounds.

Amin Adly, Edmund Tapsoba and Piero Hinkabe all scored in the first half for Leverkusen, while Jeremy Dodziak’s goal for Fürth was the only memorable goal of the afternoon for the last-placed. Schick scored all of his goals in the second half.

There were more goals (13) in the first two halves of all five afternoon games together than on any other Saturday in the previous rounds this season.

Bochum scored three first-half goals in Augsburg before eventually winning 3-2, and Mainz scored twice in the first four minutes in a 3-0 win over Wolfsburg.

Hoffenheim came from behind to defeat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-2, and Armenia Bielefeld fought against visiting Cologne to achieve a 1-1 draw.
