Manama, March 10 (BNA) The Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, Lieutenant-General Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, received today the Israeli Minister of Health Nitzan Horowitz and his accompanying delegation.


The Minister of Health, Faeq bin Saeed Al-Saleh, and senior officials in the health sector in the Kingdom were also present.


The President of the Council welcomed the delegation, stressing the importance of expanding areas of cooperation to strengthen the steadily growing relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Israel at all levels.


He stressed that initiatives to develop the health sector in the Kingdom enjoy unlimited support from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.


He praised the continuous efforts to enhance health cooperation between the two countries, citing the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides to pave the way for further cooperation and exchange of experiences in combating global epidemics, emergency management, and medical and pharmaceutical systems. education and training. The memorandum of understanding also provided for launching large-scale joint economic and health projects, cooperating in data protection in the fields of medicine and public health, increasing visits by specialists, exchanging information, in addition to cooperating in the field of health and medical research.


During the meeting, the visiting delegation was briefed on the role of the Supreme Council of Health in devising and following up on the implementation of the national health plan, including the national social health insurance program, the development of the health care sector in the Kingdom, and health insurance. It is one of the strategic projects aimed at improving the quality of health services in the Kingdom, in line with the directives of His Majesty the King, the government’s action plan, and the objectives of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.


A presentation was made on the Kingdom’s successful efforts in combating the emerging coronavirus, and the role played by the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), which is an independent body responsible for regulating health professions and service systems in the public and private sectors in the Kingdom. .


The meeting also touched on the Higher Committee for Treatment Abroad, which is charged with following up the conditions of Bahrainis receiving treatment abroad, in addition to the Visiting Doctor Program with the aim of hiring world-class specialists to treat difficult or intractable cases at home. .


The Israeli delegation visited the Salmaniya Medical Complex and was briefed about its departments and services.


The delegation members praised the level of the health system in the Kingdom and the precautionary measures taken to limit the spread of the epidemic. They also praised the efficiency of qualified national health cadres in the various health facilities in the Kingdom.


The delegation also praised the capabilities of the health sector that match global health systems, stressing that Bahrain’s experience is a success story and a role model in implementing health systems.
