SCH President highlights Health Insurance Scheme developments

Manama, October 12 (BNA) The Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, Lieutenant-General Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, chaired a panel discussion at the Ali Charitable Society.


The Governor of the North, Ali Abdul Mohsen Al-Asfoor, and a number of senior officials attended the ceremony, which focused on the National Insurance Program (My Health).


Addressing the session. Lieutenant General. Dr. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the key role of the community in ensuring the successful implementation of the programme.


His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, praised their support to the health sector.


He referred to the self-management project that resulted in the “Choose Your Doctor” program, which aims to enhance the importance of the family doctor as the first stop for patient follow-up.


He pointed out that the self-management project is in line with the government’s programs and strategies and embodies the objectives of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, stressing the importance of developing sustainable health services.


The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Walid Khalifa Al-Manea, stressed the importance of following up and supporting efforts aimed at implementing the multi-stage health insurance system.


The CEO of Governmental Hospitals, Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Al-Ansari, gave an updated overview of the self-management programs in government hospitals, stressing the importance of the program in enhancing the quality of medical services.


He stressed the initiatives of government hospitals to develop services, reduce waiting time and speed up work in existing development projects, especially in the Salmaniya Medical Complex.
