The Geneva-based World Health Organization presented the award to Dr. Al-Jalahma in recognition of her efforts in promoting health over the past 30 years.
The awards ceremony was held on the sidelines of the sixty-seventh session of the WHO General Assembly, in the presence of health ministers, heads of state delegations and participants at the United Nations Palace in Geneva.
Established in 2019, the Nelson Mandela Prize for Health Promotion celebrates a person(s) or institution(s), governmental or non-governmental organization or organization, who have made a significant contribution to the promotion of health well beyond their ordinary duties.
