Salah double fires Liverpool to victory at Tottenham

London, November 6 (BNA): Mohamed Salah scored two goals to lead Liverpool to a 2-1 victory over Tottenham in the English Premier League on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have not won the league all season and had to hold out against Tottenham in the second half with Harry Kane cutting the difference in half.

Salah put Liverpool ahead after 11 minutes when Darwin Nunez controlled Andy Robertson’s pass and hit his partner. Salah turned and shot into the bottom corner to defeat Hugo Lloris.

Last season’s Golden Shoe winner doubled his tally for Liverpool in the 40th minute. Eric Dier miscalculated after Alisson Becker was flabbergasted and Salah ran into goal for Leirlos Lloris.

Kane brought Spurs back into the game in the 70th minute when he finished the match from a tight angle to set up a comeback opportunity, according to the Associated Press.

But despite the intense pressure in the latter stages, Liverpool held on to collect the three points and move to eighth place. Tottenham are fourth, seven points behind Liverpool.

Salah has now scored nine goals in his last eight matches in all competitions.

“We did well in getting the three points,” Salah told Sky Sports. “He’s always a tough opponent. I’m focused on making a difference and I was able to do that today.”
