Royal Endurance Team ready for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup

Al-Ula, January 27 (BNA): The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup is preparing for endurance.

The 120-year-old international race for the “Fursan Endurance Cup 2022” will be held in Al-Ula Governorate.

The royal team participating in the race will include jockeys Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Mohammed Abdul Samad Al Bastaki, Raed Mahmoud, Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Zayed, Issa Jamal Al Sindi and Othman Abdul Jalil Al Awadi.

His Majesty the King directed the humanitarian work and youth affairs Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa the royal team to participate in the race.

The team will undergo a medical examination tomorrow, Friday, before the start of the 2022 Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup for Capacity, which is one of the most prominent international sporting events in the Al-Ula season.

More than 200 competitors will participate in the third year of the championship with prizes of 15 million Saudi riyals (4.2 million US dollars), making it one of the most important events in the world of endurance racing.

The two-star rating race, recognized by the International Equestrian Sports Federation, covers a distance of 120 km, over four loops that require an average of eight hours to complete, through the stunning and picturesque landscapes of the historic region of AlUla.

The director of the royal team, Dr. Khaled Ahmed Hassan, confirmed the readiness of the Bahraini jockeys to compete in the race, praising His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his strong support and follow-up.

The Emirati riders dominated the first two editions through HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who won in 2020 while Salem Hamed Al Ketbi was victorious in 2019.
