Rooney would choose Pochettino over Ten Hag for next Man United manager

Manchester, April 5 (BNA) Wayne Rooney said he would choose Paris Saint-Germain coach Mauricio Pochettino instead of Ajax Amsterdam coach Eric Ten Hag to take over his former club, Manchester United.

British media have linked Pochettino to Ten Hag’s top job at United, with interim manager Ralph Rangnick’s tenure set to expire after this season.

Pochettino led Tottenham Hotspur to the 2018-19 Champions League final before joining Paris Saint-Germain in January 2021, where he helped them win two titles.

“Pochettino did it in the Premier League. He knows the league,” Derby County coach Rooney told Sky Sports.

“If I choose between these two, I would choose Pochettino. He will need time and give time and he will do well.

“Pochettino is a great manager and knows how to work with top-class players and young players. They need to get that mix right because they can’t afford to fail again.”

United occupies seventh place in the English Premier League with 51 points, eight games before the end of the match.
