Ronaldo, Fernandes frustrated as Man U held 0-0 by Watford

London, Feb. 26 (BUS): Cristiano Ronaldo hit the post and his Manchester United team-mates squandered a slew of other great chances in the goalless draw with Watford in the Premier League on Saturday.

United remained fourth but gave hope again to their rivals in their last Champions League qualification by failing to beat a team in the relegation zone, according to the Associated Press.

Ronaldo hit the post and disallowed a goal due to a marginal offside in the first half from one side which also saw Bruno Fernandes miss a single chance and miss a long shot from close range.

In the second half, Watford defended better but missed opportunities, including when Anthony Ilanga was sent by Paul Pogba’s flick but he fired wide.

Ronaldo was the last good chance for United, but he met a cross pass from Fernandes with a weak shot that Ben Foster easily saved.

United are two points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal, who have now played three games fewer and missed matches this weekend. Seventh-placed Tottenham are five points behind United, having played two fewer games.

Watford remained second to last and three points from the safety zone.
